Monogenea are small parasitic organisms, very similar to the tapeworm. They are usually found on the gills of fish. They hook on using muscles commonly called a clamp. They have several layers of muscles that contract to move the organism along. These monogenea are capable of elongating and shortening as they move very quickly due to these muscle movements, However, these parasites prefer to just clamp on to a fish, and take a ride!
